Every year, tens of thousands of children and (grand) parents find their way to Toy Museum Deventer. We are a family museum full of everyday and special toys where people from 0 to 88 have a great and educational afternoon. And that since 1932! First as an annex of the historical museum and after a number of relocations and extensions since 1983 located at Brink 47.
CollectionWe have the largest and most important public toy collection in the Netherlands. Special dolls and doll houses, trains, various types of mechanical and optical toys, board games and games; the museum has it all. The collection can also be viewed online .
Especially for children
Children don’t just look with their eyes. That is why there are also places in the museum where children are allowed to do things. The play attic, games room and optics room are a favorite. The performances on Saturday are also popular.
Facilities and accessibility
The museum does not have a café. There is, however, a coffee corner on the ground floor where coffee, tea, soft drinks and juice are available for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, our monumental buildings are difficult to access for people with reduced mobility. You can find further visitor information here
Organization
Toy Museum Deventer is part of Deventer Story . This foundation is an independent heritage organization that, together with partners, organizes inspiring exhibitions, public activities and education at locations in the city and beyond. In addition to the Toy Museum, the foundation also manages Museum De Waag in Deventer.
Mission
The Toy Museum Deventer connects generations in one museum. Grandparents take grandchildren to their first museum visit where children marvel. The Toy Museum is a reflection of time, society and technological developments. Play, remember and (re) discover.
Vision
The museum invites you to remember, play and discover and move with the times. We do this by creating surprising presentations in which guests can choose a route that suits their individual needs: look, do, experience and learn. The basis for this is a representative collection of toys from all times. The collection is supplemented and managed in a responsible manner so that future generations can also enjoy and learn from toys.
