TREĆA GIMNAZIJA – SARAJEVO

The Third Gymnasium in Sarajevo is a public high school located in the municipality of Novo Sarajevo. The current director of the school is Salihović Senada.

The school was founded after World War II, in 1948. This was the third gymnasium in Sarajevo and for most of its history it was known by the name “Third Gymnasium”, although it changed several official names – Lower Real Gymnasium, Mixed Gymnasium, Fifth Gymnasium, Third Gymnasium (official name of the school since 1991 .), Fishermen Brothers, etc.

During the aggression on BiH, the building of the Third Gymnasium was on the demarcation line and suffered significant damage. Classes, interrupted in 1992, continued in 1993 (students were deployed at checkpoints throughout the city, mostly in the same classes as students in all other high schools). In September 1994, the Third Gymnasium received a part of the Hrasno Elementary School – the former Ivan Goran Kovačić Elementary School, in Hrasno, also near the demarcation line, where the staff and students of the school will hold classes in the following years. The school building in Pofalići was renovated in the first years after the war.
