Vanga House Museum

Bulgaria

Vanga House Museum  is located in the town of Petrich at 10 Vanga Street.

The museum opens its doors on May 5, 2008. It exhibits over 3,000 items – clothes, personal belongings, photos, gifts from people whom Vanga helped during her life with her predictions.

Baba Vanga is a Bulgarian prophetess, born in 1911 in the town of Strumica. At the age of 12, Vanga lost her sight due to a sudden storm, in which she was grabbed by a strong wind and later, after a long search, she was found covered with stones and soil in one level. In 1941 she married Dimitar Gushterov and six years later the man and finished the house in Petrich.

Baba Vanga spent most of her life in this House in Petrich – from 1947, when the building was built, to her last days. For the last 15 years of her life, she spent her days in Rupite, where she received visitors, but returned to her home in Petrich every night.

Today, everything in this house is preserved in its original form. Nothing has been changed or moved. Although turned into a museum, the house retains its coziness.

On the first floor is the prayer room, in which many icons are arranged, but the most interesting is that of the Holy Mother of God, which is believed to be miraculous. The curator of the museum will show it to you and tell you in detail about its history. Many people wished for secret things in front of her and returned to thank her.

Below is the kitchen and the room in which Vanga received visitors until the 80s – before the construction of the house on Rupite.

On the second floor are the White Hall, the bedroom and the terrace. It is said in the White Hall that the prophetess received prominent visitors.
