History
The Vasil Levski Museum in his hometown of Karlovo has more than 80 years of history. Its beginning is connected with the restoration of the native house of the Apostle in 1933. and its opening as a museum in 1937. Initially, she was taken care of by the public committee, which restored her and the community center in the city. It is served only by a security guard, who also welcomes visitors. Nikola Slavchev was appointed the first curator of the museum. In 1954 Vasil Levski House-Museum is included in the state museum network. In 1955 a hall for documentary exposition has been built near it. When she turned out to be small, in 1965. a new building was built next door and the old one was converted into a cinema hall. until 1992 the house-museum is a branch of the City Historical Museum in Karlovo. is a separate museum. On July 21, 2000. it was declared a state cultural institute of national importance and named Museum “Vasil Levski” – Karlovo. Thus, it takes its rightful place as a national memorial museum dedicated to one of the most famous Bulgarians. Since 1994 until 2011 in Karlovo a project of NIPC with author arch. Maria Karazlateva for the restoration of the environment of the Apostle’s home, largely destroyed in the 1950s and 1960s. The project envisages expansion of the museum complex through restoration of Revival houses and construction of new sites. The Chardaklieva House, the memorial chapel of All Bulgarian Saints and the Onbashieva House have already been built and included in the museum.
The museum is located in the central part of Karlovo.

8.00 am to 1.00 pm from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
