Velence

Hungary

Velence is a town in the county of Fejér, Hungary, on the shore of Lake Velence.

Its name is the same in Hungarian as that of the Italian city of Venice, though they are suffixed differently: “in Velence” is Velencén, while Velencében refers to the Italian city.

Sights

South of the traditional center of the settlement, in the park bordered by Fő utca – Tópart utca, on the hillside overlooking the lake, there is the Meszleny-Wenckheim mansion, which the locals call only a castle. The 1888 round was built by the family Meszleny-story, Neo-Renaissance , raw brick building owner 1921 earl in Wenckheim Francis was. After 1945 , there was an elementary school in the house until 1979. At that time the school moved to the neighboring Kápolnásnyék settlement. Today, the beautifully restored building is home to the city library, playhouse and wedding hall.

Economy

The income of the settlement comes from tourism on the one hand, and from the construction industry, which is booming due to the large number of settlers, on the other hand. Not only these factors are decisive in the rapid development, the geographical position of Venice is also excellent, as it is located halfway between two economic citadels – Székesfehérvár and Budapest . As a result, most children are born in Venice nationwide, of course in relation to the population. Venice is the most dynamically developing settlement in the lake area, its population is growing faster than the population of the neighboring town of Gárdony , which also has very good indicators .

Location

The city surrounds the northeastern end of Lake Venice . The southern part is the resort called Velencefürdő . The main road No. 7 , the M7 motorway , the 6207 road , the 8116 road , the 8119 road and the Budapest-Székesfehérvár railway line also affect the city, providing it with excellent transport conditions. There are two stops on the railway to the city: the Venice stop and the Venice Bath stop

There are three ship stations (Velencefürdő, Velence, Óvelence), which receive ships from Pákozd , Gárdony and Agárd .

It is located in the south-eastern part of Hajdútanya, 4 km from the center. According to 2011 data, the resident population of Hajdútanya was 62 and the number of dwellings was 16. The KDT Water Directorate operates a groundwater monitoring well in Hajdútanya.
