Villenave d’Ornon is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is the fourth-largest suburb of the city of Bordeaux, and is located to its south side. Thus, it is a member of the Bordeaux Métropole.

Geography
Municipality of the metropolis of Bordeaux and more precisely in its urban unit south of Bordeaux , on the left bank (west) of the Garonne .
Transport
By train : Villenave-d’Ornon station, Bordeaux-Saint-Jean – Sète-Ville line . By road: A62 motorway , bypass exit 18.
VCub , a self-service bicycle system implemented in February 2010. The Transports Bordeaux Métropole (TBM) network serves the town through bus lines.
The line C of the Bordeaux tramway has two stops which its terminus south on the territory of the municipality Villenave Center – Maye Bridge and Villenave – Pyrenees from.
Education
The Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences.
- The town has nine nursery schools, eight primary schools, two secondary schools (Pont de la Maye college and Chambéry college) and an agricultural high school.
- Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ISVV): opened in 2008, it brings together research, training and development teams from the University of Bordeaux and INRA , specializing in the wine industry .

Health
The town hosts the Robert-Picqué Army Instruction Hospital (HIA) .

Places and monuments
- Church of St. Martin in the xi th century , apse classified as a historical monument in 1920.
- Château de Sallegourde listed as a historic monument in 2002.
- Megalithic necropolis of Peyrehaut : the site has been designed for walkers, Chemin de Couhins, south of the city.
- The castle of Sarcignan is a former wine castle built in neo-Gothic style in the 1860s by Philippe Alary Lamartinie, Bordeaux notary and former municipal councilor of Villenave-d’Ornon.
- The Church of St. Delphin was designed by the architectural studio Salier Lajus Courtois Sadirac and the subject of a classification label in the inventory of heritage xx th century.
